Chenine Bhathena is a creative producer and cultural leader. She is currently Senior Cultural Strategy Officer at the Greater London Authority (GLA), and has just been appointed Creative Director of Coventry City of Culture 2021. Before her current role she worked at Arts Council England, and spent eight years as Co-Director of Bhathena-Jancovich - an arts management and production agency founded with Dr Leila Jancovich.

Her broad area of work includes:

  • Initiating and leading new signature projects for the city through pan London partnerships (eg. Lumiere London)
  • Leading conversations with London boroughs on how to strengthen the case for culture across multiple policy agendas;
  • Delivering a strategy for embedding culture in planning and regeneration policy for placemaking
  • Building new cultural partnerships across the public and private sectors (with Business Improvement Districts, Estate Managers, Developers and Higher Education)

This event is part of Professional Perspectives - a series of presentations by leading figures in the cultural industries that form part of the MA Culture, Creativity and Entrepreneurship course at the University of Leeds.
