Dr Jonathan Price

Jon’s current research focuses on the discourse and practice of cultural leadership, while his other interests include cultural policy, questions of participation and engagement in the arts, and the relationship between art and social justice. Jon has significant direct policy experience at local, national and international levels. He is a former Principal Arts Officer for the local authority here in Leeds, devising and operating cultural programmes and grant schemes, and has been an external funding assessor specialising in visual arts for Creative Scotland. In his ongoing consultancy work he is a regular Lead Expert for the European Commission’s Creative Europe programme and provides occasional advice on European funding for the British Council. As a member of the European Expert Network on Culture and Audiovisual (EENCA) Jon also contributes to policy development for the European Commission and is currently part of a multinational team looking into the feasibility of establishing a new European Music Observatory.
